Looks like they replaced all the booths. Last time (and only time) I was there they were falling apart and duct taped within an inch of their lives. I was put off by the nickle and diming of every single extra.
Like you said, Randy's is just a local version of a Denny's (which I believe it was in a former incarnation) or IHOP, and the aviation-themed decor, while somewhat charming, simply doesn't make up for the decidedly mediocre fare.
Randys is a generic diner serving generic diner food....Except with planes taped to the ceiling. It is in no way worth expending any sort of energy to eat at this place. If you're in the area then yeah, stop in and check it out. But know there is probably better food to be had down the street.
This review reminds me of all those people I see waiting in line for Glo's on the weekend. People. The food sucks! Go somewhere else.
I would beg to differ regarding Glo's - the mushroom gravy alone is worth the trip, the portions are extremely generous, the coffee cheap and plentiful, and they have some of the best hashbrowns in the city.
You fuckers really want to get serious about diners, go up to Shay's in Shoreline. Aurora and 160th. The food it terrible but that is obviously irrelevant to the discussion.
I haven't been to Shay's in quite a few years, so I can't attest to the current level of quality. But back in the day, it was serviceable; say one notch above Denny's.
@9: Technically, that's true, but just barely - by only about 500 feet according to my map. I mean, let's face it - it's pretty much a patchwork down by Boeing Field, seeing as any plane using the runways crosses between Seattle and Tukwila no less three times between one end and the other.
@11 - oh you're totally right the borders veer all over the place down there. I used to always get annoyed when people would criticize the City of Seattle for Boeing leaving town, insinuating that the city council did something wrong. Their headquarters was in Tukwila!

A Seattle classic that's in Tukwila. Give the suburbs some credit!

Personally, my favorite diner is Sara's down in Kent.
