The Washington State Department of Transportation must be very proud of this new Bertha photo. That's because it shows the front end of the tunnel boring machine fully exposed in its rescue pit. Today WSDOT announced that the machine had moved a total of 57 feet, and now it's time for its contractor to dismantle the machine by hauling 2,000 tons of front-end parts to the surface.
