NYT:

The chief Marseille prosecutor handling the investigation of the crash of a Germanwings jetliner said on Thursday that evidence from the cockpit voice recorder indicated that the co-pilot had deliberately locked the captain out of the cockpit and steered the plane into its fatal descent.... He said it appeared that the intention of the co-pilot, identified as Andreas Lubitz, had been “to destroy the aircraft.”

The captain was locked out of the cockpit—he spent the final moments of his life trying to break the cockpit door down, a door that was reinforced after 9/11 to make it impossible for an intruder to break into the cockpit. The flight's passengers realized what was happening moments before the plane slammed into the mountain and disintegrated—disintegrating the passengers along with it—and they spent their final moments alive screaming in terror.

MSNBC is now running us through all the other times that suicidal/homicidal pilots have intentionally crashed the planes they were flying—it happens more often than you might think—but I gotta go. My cab is here and I have a flight to catch.
