Oily Water Separator issues are extremely common, mostly due to finicky detection technologies rather than actual malfunctions discharging oil into the water.

Exactly. This is not some problem that discharges crude oil. It's an engine problem. More discharge comes off our recreational "fleet" in Seattle each day than from an issue like this. Sad to see Sydney back to credulous reposts.

@1 & @3: So you're saying Shell plead guilty to those 8 FELONIES AND coughed up the $12+ MILLIONS in fines for no reason whatsoever then? Better off load your stocks to some other credulous cretins then, clearly that company is being run by MORONS who paid fines even when they didn't do anything wrong, amite?

You're mixing incidents, as did the press release, and therefore Sydney's "article." We can discuss the issue supposedly at hand, or another incident. Just be clear, please.
