Wow. St. Louis represents.
The illustrated police reports are the best thing Slog has to offer these days.

Most people who do that DO get shot. Not smart.

@3:

Well, people prone to such displays of testosterone-induced posturing aren't exactly known as being the brightest bulbs on the string...
6
Damn, you Seattle people are lucky no one ever seems to want to pull the trigger.

Shit, so lucky.

@5, remember that not everyone has as much estrogen pumping through their veins as you.

Hamboning will save your life some day!

Remember the Seattle stage actor who was murdered in a New York hold-up because she talked back to the mugger?

Wait, so who called in this report? Was it the guy from St. Louis, making sure the cops knew how tough he was? Was it the robber, terrified of this dangerous Missourian running loose?

One of these days the person being robbed is going to have a gun of their own and shoot the robber.

Then there will be an endless debate on the comment threads of The Stranger about whether the person being robbed used too much force in defending themselves, why they just didn't shoot wound the robber, just didn't give the robber what he wanted, how the culture of those who seek not be crime victims is out of control, whether the would be robber was raising the gun to fire it or was raising it to surrender, etc. The FBI will be called in to investigate after the local prosecutor files no charges and determine that their is no basis to find that it was anything but justifiable homicide on the part of the person being robbed.

The man was lucky that he didn't get shot. Something sounds fishy here. First wouldn't you think that the driver would become suspicious seeing a man with a bandana over his face and a hoodie covering his face? Stop the bus, call the police and evacuate the passengers. It does my proud that St. Louis carries that much weight to intimidate the would be robber. But on the other hand known for crime and violence does not make St. Louis the best place to live and visit.

Heads up, Seattle! Greetings from St. Louis! We've enjoyed an iniquitous giggle, staking our future and pernicious travel planning on the very existence of a debate o'er an illustration.

Please wait...
