I've been using Rhapsody as my music service ever since it opened...before there were "tunes". For the price, and catalog it always seemed the best deal...especially now with streaming on my android phone app.

So, why is it that all the Johnny-Come-Lately services, which seem to charge more, be less subscriber friendly and have a worse catalog, end up getting pumped in the news as if no one had ever thought of the idea before Pandora?

A couple things regarding the MFN provision. First, Spotify has an affirmative duty to report more favorable terms to Sony (par. 13(b)(2)). It's not just that Sony has an audit right. Second, MFNs typically automatically adopt the more favorable provision, sometimes retroactively. Here, Sony can elect to adopt the more favorable provisions, not renegotiate the deal (par. 13(c)).

"However, it's unclear how much, if any, of these advances are going to artists."

LOL. How about none? Do you think Sony renegotiated contracts with artists to reflect this new income? Fuckity no.

I'm glad that the Stranger finally has someone on the Brands That Matter beat.
