The Metro app is worse than useless. One Bus Away is only marginally better. Google Maps has the best mass transit results I've seen in the area by a healthy margin.

My partner used to bus it up there and in Snohomish County back in the 80s, can't be as car dependent as me, halfway between Marysville and Stanwood. Nearest bus stop 6 miles, train 12, super market or pharmacy 11.

Often forgotten far-flung burg, Jesus Christ the district starts at 85th Street. The Stranger acts like anything north of the ship canal is another country. Surprised you're even covering it, I guess just this once, you'll make an exception.

Um not all Dist 5, as @3 points out. I know a lot of bus users who live there.

Since Faye and her minions gerrymandered Mike McGinn into District 6, Doug's Voter's Guide says vote for Mercedes Elizalde

@3 It's ok, Heidi made sure to paint us as "conservative and tax-averse" so that she can still justify marginalizing the North. Even though her linked map shows us as less tax-adverse than D1 and less conservative on local issues than D4 or D7 (or that 83% of the district voted for Obama, same as D7). Just like she made sure to highlight one bad apple rather weigh in on the 130th beach issue. Or how she didn't bother to even mention the 130th Link station issue. Whatever lets you sleep at night Heidi, all 90k of us D5ers are just so grateful for our once-in-4-years coverage by The Stranger. We can't wait for 2019's one page casual dismissal.

The 522 Express runs between the urban center of Lake City and Downtown until midnight, everyday. It's quite easy to be carless here, could bbe easier if you enjoy nightlife, but doable. Lake City also has sidewalks.

Other parts of D5 need sidewalks. Like Greenwood, Aurora, and such. That Aurora doesn't have sidewalks is criminally negligent.

@7, Lake City Way has sidewalks. 1 to 2 blocks off of LCW and living in the neighborhood adjacent, there are no sidewalks and the only way to get to parks, schools and the library is to walk on the street. It blows.

I almost didn't recognize the district that Heidi Groover described. I have lived here twenty years. At the Broadview and Lake City Candidte Forum our district was not described as the most conservative and tax adverse district. Rather were were described as the district that most reflected Seattle over all - neither the richest, nor the poorest overall and in line with how the city votes. What frustrates me the most is what she didn't say - the fifth district (specifically Lake City and Bitter Lake) is the most culturally diverse district north of the ship canal and it is under under served.

Please wait...
