It's another strong weekend for fans of fusion jazz (Being John McLaughlin), brainy dance music (YACHT), big name hiphop (2 Chainz), and all manner of other live music around town. Let's take a peek.

TODAY

King Khan & BBQ Show
Travis Ritter says: "The BBQ’s double-duty ramshackle drum kit and Khan’s fierce guitar playing power forward with smart, raw songs delivered with wry humor and sardonic wit. The King Khan & BBQ Show are always terrific live, making soul-dance nights seem boring by comparison."

Other notables today: Coheed and Cambria at Showbox Sodo, SQUALL at Kremwerk, Eldridge Gravy and crew at Nectar, and Raj at Re-bar.

SATURDAY

2 Chainz
2 Chainz is basically an infinitely more entertaining Rick Ross, and there's nothing wrong with that.

Being John McLaughlin
Dave Segal says: "Local sextet Being John McLaughlin—featuring Tristan Gianola on guitar—strive to harness the virtuosic pyrotechnics of the fusion master’s tenure with Mahavishnu, which is one of the most worthwhile pursuits of sonic homaging I can imagine."

The Dicks
Celebrate the pointedly dangerous Texan punk of the Dicks tonight at Slim's Last Chance.

Truly
Kathleen Richards says: "Seattle’s grunge era produced a lot of great bands that, for various reasons, never achieved commercial success. Truly was one of them. Featuring original Soundgarden bassist Hiro Yamamoto, Screaming Trees drummer Mark Pickerel, and singer/guitarist Robert Roth, the band played a heavy psychedelic sound that got increasingly poppier over the years."

Other notables on Saturday: Great Spiders and co. at Hollow Earth, Dave Rawlings Machine at Neptune, Sky Cries Mary at Neumos, Jimmie Herrod at Vito's, and R Day at the Old Rainier Brewery.

SUNDAY

YACHT
For fans of brainy shtick and funky ass beats, make sure to make it down to Neumos for YACHT.

Immortal Bird
Joseph Schafer says: "[S]inger and songwriter Rae Amitay mixes intelligent observations on humanity as well as disturbing personal truths into her lyrics, but the music she creates alongside guitarist Evan Berry is a furious blend of metal and hardcore."

Other notables for Sunday: The Pearl Fishers at McCaw Hall, and "No Exit" blunch at Revolver Bar.

Whew. If that's not enough for your earholes, please head to the full calendar for every other concert around town.
