Who knows, maybe this is part of some shrewd social media campaign that I've missed. But I like to think that someone in the Tacoma / Olympia postmark area saw the holidays approaching, sat down, and hand-wrote this note of thanks for the good things that taxes can do.

Dear Taxpayer,

I am a disabled veteran and cannot work at this time. Yet I have benefits.

Because of you, I have healthcare and can afford to live.

Thank you.
