Three events going on tonight, from non-fiction to science fiction to poetry.

Up at Third Place Books, Adam Woog reads from his book about the history of the Ballard Locks. In conclusion: Woog. I think Woog is my new favorite word.

At the University Book Store, Cherie Priest and Caitlin Kittredge read from their books. One is a book about a water witch trying to raise a leviathan. The other is the 60th book about a werewolf police officer to be released this year.

And up at Open Books, Cody Walker reads from his new collection of poetry, Shuffle and Breakdown. Here is a poem from the book, absconded from Walker's website:

Four Things More

“I just don’t want everyone to remember him as the guy who fell off the balcony—he was so much more to us.” —from The Daily of the University of Washington

Say he sent gingerbread to the criminally forlorn.
Say he left too soon, like Thomas Chatterton.
Say he brokered a truce between the buckthorn and the peppercorn.
Say he was loved; he must have been.

This is clearly the reading of the night.

The full readings calendar, including the next week or so, is here.
