66af/1248715943-sallyforthpynchon.pngThe Millions points out that this Sunday's Sally Forth comic strip features a Thomas Pynchon homage. Sally Forth's daughter writes an essay about baseball that adapts the opening lines of Gravity's Rainbow.

I wonder if the writer of the strip is celebrating the fact that there will be a new Thomas Pynchon novel published on Tuesday, August 4th. I also wonder if this is the first Pynchon reference in the Sunday funnies. This isn't as ambitious as the five-year adaptation of Proust that took over Blondie in the mid-nineties, but it's still notable.
