We have popular mystery author Elizabeth George reading tonight, Greil Marcus reading from a whole entire book he wrote about Van Morrison (?!), and three interesting-looking events that I am actually going to tell you about.

It's time again for Cheap Wine and Poetry at the Hugo House. Sara Brickman, Felicia Gonzalez, Carol Guess and Martha Silano will read poetry. Wine is only a buck a glass. Brickman alone is cause for celebration, but the wine helps, too.

J.r.d. Middleton reads at Pilot Books tonight. An Dantomine Eerly is an experimental novel about a dying poet from a brand-new Seattle publisher. I wrote about this book here.

And up in the U District, Karl Marlantes reads from Matterhorn, a huge thick debut novel about the Vietnam War. This is looking like one of those novels that is adored by even people who don't like novels.

The full readings calendar, including the next week or so, is here. And if you're planning on staying in and you're looking for personalized book recommendations, feel free to tell me the books you like and ask me what to read next over at Questionland.
