We have Kim Severson reading at University Book Store tonight from her memoir about how she learned important life lessons from eight different chefs, Jeff Goodell reading from his book How to Cool The Planet: Geoengineering and the Audacious Quest to Fix Earth's Climate at Town Hall, and then two other events.

Damali Ayo reads at Elliott Bay Book Company tonight. Obamistan! Land Without Racism: Your Guide to the New America is a guidebook to the fantasy-land that everyone secretly hoped America would become after the 2008 elections. Ayo is the author of How to Rent a Negro, which was a pretty funny, and pretty depressing, book.

And then tonight at the Sorrento, the brainiacs behind 12 Books—the rotating 12-title bookshop in the lobby of the Sorrento Hotel—will host a salon about poetry and hip hop. It's free.

Either one of those events should be a good time.

The full readings calendar, including the next week or so, is here. And if you're planning on staying in and you're looking for personalized book recommendations, feel free to tell me the books you like and ask me what to read next over at Questionland.
