We have a weird family-friendly event at Showbox at the Market at 1:30 this afternoon. Cornelia Funke, the author of The Thief Lord and the Inkworld Trilogy, will read at this "once-in-a-lifetime theatrical storytelling event," which includes a dramatized reading and an interview. Sounds kind of Ice Capades-y, which is a nice change of pace from your standard reading.

Kim Fay reads at Elliott Bay Book Company. Communion: A Culinary Journey Through Vietnam is a book that is about travel and food. And Vietnam.

And Linda McDonald-Lewis will be reading at the Sorrento Hotel tonight. This is maybe your only opportunity to ever learn about Scottish history (McDonald-Lewis's book is about many Scottish things, including Scotland's influence on America) at a whiskey tasting. $30 gets you in on it.

The full readings calendar, including the next week or so, is here. And if you're planning on staying in and you're looking for personalized book recommendations, feel free to tell me the books you like and ask me what to read next over at Questionland.
