You kind of get the feeling that he really, really wants to date a porn star, but they keep rejecting him for sneaking words like "deconstruction" and "tautology" into everyday conversation.

Wow. That guy's pieces read just like if you had yanked my 19-year-old self out of my sophomore lit classes and told me I could get laid if I could just convince girls I was sufficiently intellectual via lit review.

who gives a fuck about any of this

A WRITER WRITING ABOUT ANOTHER WRITER WAS SNOTTY WAHHHHHHHHH

Hot tip: Unresearched name-calling can be embarrassing. I'm not white.

All best,

Glen Duncan

I'm still going to complain about political correctness. I'm glad you love it, Paul! I love you, too!
6
Yes because clearly, calling somebody a white male is name calling of the worst order. And it also invalidates Paul's whole point otherwise. I suppose this is indicative of your general reasoning abilities. Good job all around.

So we've got a Stranger writer's review of a reviewer's response to a writer's response to the reviewer's review of the writer's book.

Zzzzzzz.

@6: The point is that (again) a Stranger writer can't be bothered to get the facts before spewing another wrong-headed attack.

Hey, give the guy a break. A lot of people DO sound like idiots when they post reviews on places like Amazon. And remember, he ended his review by saying "If this is the intellectual and the porn star, they look pretty good together. For my money, they have a long and happy life ahead of them. " -- so he obviously doesn't think the pairing is all bad.

I'm a long time sff addict, so I certainly respect the genre myself. But I can forgive Duncan a bit of bitching and moaning as long as he continues to write so well. I loved The Last Werewolf -- and while I'm not sure that I think there SHOULD be any sequels to it, I'll be reading the next volume anyway.

Please wait...
