The owner of the late, lamented Cafe Septieme has now written two very good books about food. Kurt Timmermeister’s Growing a Farmer was the story of how he bought and learned to love a Vashon Island farm. (If you’ve ever eaten Kurtwood Farms’ dairy products, you understand that plastic-wrapped cheese is a crime against humanity.) His new Growing a Feast tells the story of how a meal comes together, from the soil up. Tonight, Timmermeister debuts Feast with a special onstage conversation with Dan Savage, whose culinary experience involves eating at restaurants pretty frequently.
