The problem with F. Scott Fitzgerald is he didn’t do stand-up comedy. In her new novel, Great, comedian Sara Benincasa reimagines The Great Gatsby as a contemporary lesbian love story told by the teenage daughter of a cupcake magnate. Whereas Fitzgerald spent a lot of his post-Gatsby time drinking and ruining the lives of his friends and family. Benincasa will celebrate the launch of her book with a reading and jokes and a special guest appearance by Seattle comedian Derek Sheen. Sure, Gatsby is a classic, but I know which author I’d rather hang out with. (University Book Store, 4326 University Way NE, ubookstore.com, 5 pm, free)
