Such fantastic news. Much gratitude is due to Ron Sher, Robert Sindelar, PCC, and everyone who made this happen. If this isn't proof that Seattle is a City of Literature, then I don't know what is. Long live Third Place Books!

nothing against 3rd place... but fwiw, there is already a small independent used bookstore in the columbia city area that will likely suffer. i always thought this would be a great place for a garden store and nursery since currently you have to trek half way across the city if you want to buy non-monsanto seeds or fertilizers. anyway, i guess S. seattle is under-served in many areas and ripe for new businesses...

I am over the moon excited! I hope the pub will stay open late!

We are losing our neighborhood grocery store. We are also underserved in the matter of grocery stores. I am happy it won't be left empty, and I love book stores, but losing the grocery store makes our neighborhood less walkable. There will be a pet shop and couple of restaurants and now a book store. We need an anchor. And something practical. The PCC was that.

But maybe TPB could have a small cooler selling milk and eggs near the check out. Add a shelf of artisan breads and a selection of fruits and veggies and we would have the best of both worlds.

Or maybe Noah's Grocery will step up. It could turn into something like Tesco Fresh &Easy model.
