"...in her increasingly deceased status." Haha.

you just sound peevish now.

You guys.
1. The Library's 2015 operating budget is $65.3 million dollars.
2. No public funds are being spend on this rebranding project
3. No one ever likes change, but the rebrand is (obviously) not targeted to people who already love and make extensive use of the Library.

(I mean, I agree think that much of the proposed rebranding is silly and that the process to get there is a squishy mess. But in the grand scheme of things, its not a catastrophe.)

Jesus Christ yall. You're actually hurting people now with this overblown clicktivism. Libraries should be controversial, should all collection decisions now be reviewed when people yell the loudest and most melodramatically? The library has books you probably hate, wanna start an internet ragemob over that? This is why libraries shouldn't have to rely on donors who get the vapors so easily. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

Seattle libraries are used by lots of people, there are always long waiting lists for their classes, activities, computers and books. Why do they think rebranding is needed? The survey was a good idea, to ask what people would like the libraries to offer, although it's too bad that they paid someone for it instead of having the librarians do it in-house. The name change thing is weird since I thought that was already their name! It would have been more fun if they had design contest for kids/teens/library patrons to come up with a new logo (or is this what they're doing?). I think it's a mistake to call the process "rebranding". Public Libraries should never be thought of as BRANDS! Yuk, branding is for persuading people to buy junk stuff they don't need. Libraries - like hospitals and public schools and universities - have a fiduciary duty to the public, and shouldn't be run like businesses.

Libraries are never going to be for everyone. There will always be people who think they are boring. All the advertisement/branding (yuk), in the world will not change these people's perception or increase their interest.

Must be some wretched new fad, my bank just changed to an idiotic corpo-speak name that's not even a word! Blech! I've even seen the Oxford English Dictionary referred to as OED! Soon our names will also be just initials/random letters/squiggles.

I blame Prince!

There's a thought! Yo, SPL, change your name to Purple Rain- PR (see what I did there?), or Purple People Eaters - PPE - if Prince squawks.

I see this rebranding effort as a perfect way to spend all that new tax revenue that AirBnB claims to be bringing public institutions.

Please wait...
