All religions are false
2
George Orwell explained it all in "1984".
3
Ones and zeros were never very religious in the first place.

Belief in the inevitable solution to societal ills - self-driving cars - is proselytized ad nauseum to the minds of high tech minions gaily raking in bit coin at Amazon, Ebay, Google, Uber, Microsoft, Apple, and the lord of lords General motors, nevermind global warming and catastrophic climate change inevitably decimating human population to levels to where the .001% may continue enjoying luxury, privilege and abominable control.

My friends, many of whom hope/dream of becoming tech industry gazillionnaires some day and none of whom ever will be anything more than tech worker bees (just like everybody who picks up a guitar thinks they'll be a rock star some day), now just roll their eyes and walk away when I repeat my mantra that the US desperately needs a technology policy and technology regulation -- that some limits must be placed on how and when technology can be used in critical areas such as health care, financial services, elections and voter registration, national defense systems, regional utilities, electrical power generation, automated vehicles, and education from pre-school on up. These are too sensitive to trust to apps and algorithms written by people focused on dreams of a windfall IPO dancing before their eyes.

Sounds like Foer's book is just what the doctor ordered for me, and it will give me more ammunition. Thanks for the review. I'm heading to Third Place Books for a copy.

What a load of twaddle.

Monopolists of new, like monopolists of old (I'm looking at you, Bill Gates, along with Mr. Harriman) will be tamed by the oldest and best "operating system" yet devised -- the first written document describing how a free people will govern themselves. Yes, the good ol' Constitution of the United States will continue to preserve, protect, and defend our liberties. All we need to do is continue to operate per that guidance.

... I repeat my mantra that the US desperately needs a technology policy and technology regulation -- that some limits must be placed on how and when technology can be used in critical areas such as health care...

I'm willing to limit your access to AEDs and other modern, tech-heavy medical devices. See? Compromise IS possible. :-)

Please wait...
