Is The Stranger back to paying by the word for articles?
Personally, I don't find Henry Winkler's assertion to be at all far-fetched. When an area is as parched as the LA area, that's an arsonist's wet dream, as it were. Either just a run-of-the-mill firebug like the Shoreline Arsonist a few decades back, or some own-the-libs, anti-gubbermint type.
It's been a while since we've heard from CM, I was kind of hopping that he had faded off into the sunset but no such luck. Maybe time for a retirement party (the tired old socialist rants gets a little old).
I read Parable of the Sower a handful of years ago and was stunned by her prescience then. Her legacy has only grown, every year since. I wish I had found her writings much sooner. Imagine if this were mandatory high school reading.

Maybe they're both right?

Just finished the book after your repeated mentions got it stuck in my brain. Thanks for the recommendation.
