China Miéville Builds a Foreign, Familiar City of Language

Man I can't wait to read this. I wonder how it compares to Stephenson's "Anathem," another mind-blower work of sci-fi centered on language and meaning?
I love MiƩville's ideas, but I hated the prose in "Perdido Street Station." I might give this a chance, though.
Your description of the first 30 pages of Embassytown reminds me of reading Clockwork Orange when I was about 16. 22 holds on 44 copies at Toronto Public Library means I'll probably get it in a month or so.
