My friend Charles once wrote a story like Very Recent History in 5th grade. He talked about people being like sardines getting into tin cans every night for their drive home along ribbons of light. He said his teacher was disturbed by it, and visited his Mom at their apartment on E. 92nd and asked that he not write like that any more.

So he stopped writing. And is a very successful person today.
