In 2009, politifact did some research and found that cigarettes were responsible for more deaths than alcohol, AIDS, car accidents, illegal drugs, murders and suicides combined. Way more, like more than double. More people died of cigarettes in one year than all the Americans who died in WWII.

That's 10 year old data though. Have cigarette deaths declined that much in 10 years?

Every administration is a reflection of the Chief Executive’s personality.

Donald Trump is a teetotaler, and has been his whole life. His older brother, who was groomed for success by his father, died from alcoholism. His decline was dramatic, and this left Donald with a lifelong aversion to alcohol. He has strictly forbidden his children from ever touching the stuff.

Any study which concludes that his attitude is the correct one will receive federal funding. Any study contradicting that outlook will not.

This doesn’t imply that the study is incorrect. It’s probably true. However, it was not that long ago that people considered one glass of wine with dinner to be more healthy than teetotalism. And, in some future administration, the attitude will shift to reflect that administration’s leader as well.

@6: I endeavor, as all good-hearted people do, to be everything Donald Trump is not. And so I shall get totally shit-faced tonight in his dishonor, health studies be damned.

People die from doing alot of things. And that's ok. Risk, pleasure, costs, benefits... should all be personal decisions. Don't tell people how to live. Getting to make those choices, good or ill, is one of the great benefits of being a human. Anyone who would take that away from you is a controlling asshole you should avoid or fight off.

You've got that right. Pot probably would have been legalized decades ago if not for the pot smokers. Obnoxious, bubble font hippies. "Heeeeeeey maaaaaaaan... like, I'm soooooo wasted doooood." Fuck, no wonder no one takes them seriously.
