Nobody seems to remember it, but my favorite Reynolds movie was "Breaking in." A sweet little indie written by John Sayles and shot right up here in the PNW in Portland by noted Scottish director Bill Forsyth (Local Hero, Comfort and Joy). Great little film.

RIP Burt Reynolds. Great clip Dan..

@2: I remember "Breaking In." Low-key quirky comedy. Well worth a re-watch.

He redefined his whole career with his performance in "Boogie Nights", much as Travolta did with "Pulp Fiction".
I thought they both were lightweights and then, wow, where did THAT come from?

"You don't beat it. You never beat the river chubby."

Rest in peace, Burt Reynolds. You'll always be Lewis Medlock (from Deliverance) and The Bandit to me. Don't ever lose your laugh Up There. Thanks for the wonderful clip, Dan.
@6 kallipugos: I know, right? Reynolds was powerful in Boogie Nights, as was Travolta in Pulp Fiction. Don't forget Reynolds' riveting performance in Deliverance.

Probably tooling around in some American muscle with Hal Needham as we speak.

I thought his pseudo philosophical lines in “Deliverance” were a bit amusing considering his previous roles, yet will always remember him for that nude pic in Cosmopolitan.
Warning/guarantee: body hair was still in back then.

It was his smile.
