So wait, she's being canned for doing the right thing?
2
She is being fired because she is part of the bad decision machine that has been running seattle government for several years. They have squandered the economic boom.

Cathy Nyland defunded the District Councils of Neighborhood Councils, rather than implementing the 2009 audit that recommended steps toward diversity, including translators/interpreters and support for better websites. She proudly banned Town Hall meetings and implemented the patronizing one-on-one tabling and sticky notes like the one this morning at New Holly. Better outreach, listening to neighborhoods would restore neighborhood planning and would have caused SDOT to reconsider the bike lane and loss of parking on 35th Ave. NE, with 86% neighborhood opposition.

The department became nothing more than civic engagement as a propaganda tool for developers, and a patronage machine for neighborhood activists willing to kiss her ring. This is an improvement for the city.

"Finding that the councils were largely composed of wealthy, white homeowners" -- yeah, it's bullshit "findings" like that which hopefully will leave her in a backroom somewhere...

She is a lacky and a liar, and represents everything that is wrong with City Hall. Hopefully Durkan sees this as more of the house cleaning required after Murray's disastrous reign.

Please wait...
