He's not running City of Seattle

Councilmember Mike O'Brien announced today that he will not seek reelection, according to Crosscut. O'Brien had filed initial paperwork to run for his third term on the council but said publicly he was still considering whether or not he would run.

O'Brien is the fourth sitting councilmember to announce that he would not seek reelection, following the lead of Sally Bagshaw, Bruce Harrell, and Rob Johnson. All seven of the city's district council seats are up for election this year, the two citywide seats are not.

Three people have announced their candidacies for O'Brien's District 3District 6 seat but the race has yet to see a major candidate announcement. With O'Briens' departure that's likely to change.
