You Can't Keep a GeekGirl Down

Comments

Are you fucking kidding me?

Maybe some men feel they've had enough of handing over their sacks to the aggressive, reactionary, perma-victim that is the female gender and are acting out in nefarious ways. On the other hand, I agree nonetheless that its wholly sad, especially for kids that just want to have a good time.
3
Why are you begging, by posting here, for someone to do it again next year. You just lost.
4
Man, this is a bummer. I hope other people will attend en masse next year like you and not be cowed by some lonely, sad person's attempt to ruin this event.

Don't let any cruel words that might show up in the comments get you down!
5
@2: Maybe they should learn to share their toys and reflect upon the messages their entertainment choices send. That is literally all women are asking of them, the poor dears.

The average age of the convention center staff is pertinent because...?

Didn't you know that the average age of a Stranger reader is 25 and under, which makes the 30 to 45 year olds that the Convention Center hires totally old and dusty old farts?

Whatever insipidity happened towards it and failed, GeekGirl Con was a blast for those of us who actually attended it! Bravo to all who helped out and put on such an empowering event! So much better than the campy overfunded waste that has become the San Diego Comic Con. (I also heard some other repressed gomer pranks happened too, as some rich fink passing through Seattle smeared shit on the walls of a bar/gallery downtown.)
10
@8: Then that would be their problem, now wouldn't it?
12
Just to get this in, in situations like this, you can not discount the possibility of excessive use of huge piles of COCAINE and copious quantities of MALT LIQUOR.

Now excuse me while I get back to my Billy Dee Williams videos...
14
@3 dont talk about things--it makes other things happen! Dont rock the boat. Your silence pleases me.

@2 You are the permanent victim. I read your comments and it's clear you hate woman. I'm sure writing mean things against the opposite sex makes you feel good. Really it just makes you look like an insecure sadsack. I'm sure some woman did you wrong, maybe your mommy. Don't take it out on all woman forever. Maybe you just need a hug?

Hey Aurtur, I like what you did there, funny. Unfortunately for you it's not true. I love men an have a healthy relationship with my father. I do not feel the need to put down the opposite sex repeatedly in I anon comments. Although the author has a very good vocabulary, it's still just mean. Also I can always use a hug, they are so delightful!

Who call's in bomb threats to GeekGirlCon? Same people who stalked and harassed Anita Sarkeesian.

Seriously what the fuck.

@19: It is on its face political. #gamergate is political. You can pretend it's not, but the rest of us just appreciate you telling us to ignore you. Could you scream "IGNORE ME I HAVE NO WORTHWHILE OPINIONS" a little less loudly though?

Thanks.

At what point did the aberrant, odd troll commenter on SLOG become one in three? And where's the tipping point beyond which it's not even worth checking? Was wondering if I'd accidentally clicked on Twitchy.
23
@2 sounds like the whiney victim to me. As a man, I'm so embarrassed by men's rights activists. They are cowardly victims blaming the world, particularly women, because of their own defects.

There is absolutely no evidence of this. Indeed, in the vast majority of cases, such "bomb threats" are in fact juvenile hijinks by juveniles, or adults that act like juveniles. Again, there is absolutely zero evidence of any "political" intent.
...but the rest of us just appreciate you telling us to ignore you.
Feel free to be ignorant and closed minded. It's no skin off me.

@19 - My, you're an angry little mister.

My, you're an angry little mister.
Not at all, I just think some unsupportable assumptions have been made here. If you wish to delude yourself into thinking something is so when in fact there is no evidence to support it, that's your business. And such people typically attack those who point out these flawed arguments as being some class of undesirable human.

But please, feel free to tar and feather some human group because it fits your political views if it makes you feel better about yourself. Be happy and smile as you stick your pitch-fork into those you disagree with...

@26 - k.

@2:

I wouldn't worry - with attitudes like that, your sack is never going to be used for much more than the occasional scratching session anyway.
29
@Anonymous

Go get 'em! Living as a woman in this world makes you a hero already.
30
@27: God I <3 you.

@2: I don't know about anyone else, but I've never experienced any testicular loss from giving women and girls their due, much less so much that it would derange me into calling-in bomb-threats.

And though I'm sure that there are some female 'perma-victims' attempting to use both imagined and very real injustices to get over, to tar the whole gender so seems somewhat -uh- hysterical. And the existence of those who unfairly exploit the victim's rôle is unseemly, but inevitable given a due and proper respect forthe needs of victims, just as maintaining decent levels of welfare makes the presence of some welfare cheats inevitable, any patent system guaranties some patent trolls, and r3spect for the utility of the profit motive ensuresthat there will be profiteering.

Your second paragraph highlighting your disapproval of the actual miscreants was moderating and welcome; thanks.

If someone was seriously trying to bomb a place they probably wouldn't tweet it first. Internet trolls are by and large cowards.

Please wait...
