I don't normally read such dense prose. Would someone explain what this is about? A Christian ate a burrito that should have gone to someone more deserving?
Christianity is based on the idea of charity: feeding the needy and poor and giving them shelter. But its so much more satisfying to tell other people they're going to hell, isn't it?
I wonder if you just couldn't wait to run home and send this in or if you actually had the courage to say something to him? This "bit" always makes me sad because you passive aggressive wielders of justice and might hide behind your keyboard instead of actually saying anything.
Do you know why he's out there? Did you talk to him? Did you try to understand who he was and why he was there? Or did you just walk by and scoff and think that you were better than another human being?
I'm assuming this is the guy who holds up signs outside Chipotle downtown, he's probably not really fit for gainful employment.
And I doubt he's making enough money to afford rent or anything else, so who cares. If a bunch of Seattle Christians want to feed him, at least his shtick isn't obvious hate or Mars Hill.
The writer is upset that people are giving free food to the street corner preacher instead of the other homeless people around him. Hmmm...what to do?...Chipotle nearby, hungry homeless people around...angry that no one is feeding them...what to do?...I know! I'll run home and write a letter to the Stranger about it!
Well now I HAVE heard it all!
Please have another Craft Martini, and move on....
