Ugh, adolescence in the pre-Internet days. I was lucky enough that much of mine was spent in the '90s, where images of naked women were easy enough to come by. Waiting several minutes for the 28.8kb modem to downloaded individual images was far better than hunting for porn in the real world, where you had about the same success rate as you would looking for leprechauns.
Anyone remember flipping up/down, up/down over and over on the cable TV remote, clicking onto the porno channel (Playboy, Cinemax, Spice maybe) over and over. If you clicked past it you'd see a distorted image of people fucking. If you went back and forth back and forth about 20 times, it would eventually clear and let you watch a channel you weren't subscribed to.
Has anyone studied that bug? How long was it around? How any people knew about it? Did they ever fix it?
I grew up in Council Bluffs Iowa in the 70's, which was ridiculously porn-centric, thanks to a dying downtown and Nebraskan's (and the guys at Offut AFB)penchant for porn.
The old appliance store was porn. The old music store was porn. The Liberty Theater was renamed the Crest Adult Art Theater and showed porn 24/7. There were loads of strip clubs becase, like Washington State, Nebraska didn't allow strippers - not even with no booze. We were literally swimming in porn, and it was fairly easy to come across it as a minor. Sometimes you could even find it in the park.
It wasn't until the casinos came along that they were able to move all the porn to the county line (which was much closer to the Air Force base anyway)
