"and I used to have friends that were Nazis!"

Ladies and Gentlemen, Henry Ford!
2
you know, you try to take the one side of each story we get on this column with an open mind and hope that each week's "I, Anon" is being honest......
but when the author includes "and I used to have friends that were Nazis!", it makes it kind of hard to take anything in your story seriously.
3
"Bitch" is to women as "faggot" is to gays.

Fighting slurs with slurs is a rhetorical dead-end.

You hate hate and perpetuate hate with your own brand of hateful speech. Wake up!
4
Oh please, calling a woman a bitch doesn't have NEARLY as much hate behind it as calling a gay person a faggot (which also doesn't have nearly as much hate behind it as calling a black person the 'N word'). There are levels of hate speech here, sheesh.
Also, sounds like this bitch was begging to be knocked out, so being called a bitch seems pretty damn nice. I would have looked her dead in the face and called her a CUNT, and probably would have spit on her... but I'm just a faggot.
5
You talk of slurs yet use the word 'bitch.'

...glass houses...
6
Who knew that Seattle had 90-something German immigrants who like to go clubbing?
7
This may be the funniest IA I've read in ages. Of course, I've been away for ages and haven't caught up, but this one is great.
8
Those must have been really politically correct Nazi's if a few homophobic and racist slurs was worse than anything you ever heard them say. Nazi's usually believe in genocide. You chose to be friends with people knowing their hatred. So you condoned it but now are getting on your high horse? The Nazi's also committed genoicde against gays. So you were friends with people who celebrate that, but get offended at a homophobic slur? Your morality is really weak and nonsensical.
9
John Demjanjuk, is that you?
10
Let me get this straight...

You ALL just stood there and watched, doing nothing to stop the horrific "hate crime" that "FUCKING DISGUSTED" you so much?

You berate the staff when you yourself and your friends were all doing the same thing. Absolutely fucking nothing!

Does that sum it up?

11
Boy, sounds like the Cha Cha Lounge has really gone downhill.
12
@2: "when the author includes "and I used to have friends that were Nazis!", it makes it kind of hard to take anything in your story seriously."

My guess, some crustpunk got bounced.
13
@8 - many modern Nazis, or neo-nazis, while claiming there will be a race war, etc, are careful to not directly advocate genocide. They argue more like the KKK - a seperation of them from us because we are better, holier, more civilized, etc than they are.
I believe the writer meant he had friends who were neo-nazis, not actual German nazis of the 1940's.
14
Watch out! It's the PC thought police.
15
@8 I would interpret "used to be friends," as in stopped being friends once they showed their true colors to the point those couldn't be ignored anymore.

So, more importantly, where's all the speculation about which club we're talking about? Or, is that not going to be printed because they're a regular advertiser in The Stranger? Not that I was planning to be in Seattle anytime soon, but you know, just in case.
16
@15: No, "used to be friends" when used in this context implies that they actively tolerated a person with Neo-Nazi ties, but broke off friendship for unrelated reasons. That's why they bring it up, because "even literal Nazis are less bad than X"

Essentially the LW is a massively unbalanced doucheweasel.
17
@14:
You have every right to think every stupid thought you want. You even have the right to say what you want. What some would ask, however, is that you not use words that others find to be hurtful.

Many gay men have had the F-word hurled at them while having violence or the threat of violence inflicted upon them. Many African-Americans have experience violence and threats along with the n-word. Many women...well you get the point, or maybe not.

Unlike the actual police I can't stop you from saying what you want, thus I have no real power, thus "PC thought police" is a fucking stupid thing to say. It's your 'right' to keep saying it, it's my right to tell you that you are an asshat.
18
@17: Why argue with South Park Republicans? They just want the "freedom" to be terrible people.
19
"If I wasn't so dead set against men hitting women, I would've knocked her out myself."

This one always annoys me. Wow, you're such an honorable person for not hitting a woman. You just wish you could hit her.
20
If the writer spent any time in jail/prison, he might have had Nazi friends. Not like one has a lot of choice about their social life.
21
@18: I know, I just feel like it's Groundhog's Day with this 'freedom of speech' claptrap over and over again and it gets fucking annoying. Calling you out for using hurtful words is NOT limiting your freedom. Sheesh.
22
ALL of my money is on El Corazon.
23
Absolutely El Corazon.
24
anyone know what KLVB stands for?
25
@20: You're really stretching to find an excuse here. You still don't have to call them "friends" but "guys I met while incarcerated who didn't even talk this way".
26
@24: The Kkklurrrrb.
27
If there is any moral lesson to be learned from I, Anonymous it is "You are no better than the person you hate." There is a clear trend of the authors outing themselves as horrible people while ranting at the horrible actions of others. This one takes the cake though; here's a guy who used to be friends with Nazis, fantasizes about hitting women, and has no problem using sexist slurs, and yet he is DISGUSTED by the actions of this other person.
28
"Many gay men have had the F-word hurled at them while having violence or the threat of violence inflicted upon them. Many African-Americans have experience violence and threats along with the n-word. Many women...well you get the point, or maybe not"

And many Jews and gays had murder inflicted on them by Nazi's. This guy was friends with people who followed that ideology. So his offense at a few slurs reeks of bs. And considering how many gays, women, and blacks blast music that spews slurs at themselves I take their sensitivities not too seriously anymore.
29
@28: Huh? You seem confused. I was directing that @14.

Also: "And considering how many gays, women, and blacks blast music that spews slurs at themselves I take their sensitivities not too seriously anymore." How many would that be? Even if that were true for EVERYONE in those demographics (it's not of course) how does that make it okay? Or are you just using such absurd reasoning to justify using such language? Like I said, you seem confused.
30
@28: "considering how many gays, women, and blacks blast music that spews slurs at themselves I take their sensitivities not too seriously anymore."

It's funny how bigots find their beliefs confirmed so easily.
31
El Corazon. I'll never go there again.
32
It is a free country. Anyone is free to spout whatever heinous bullshit comes to mind. Anyone is free to then justify their heinous bullshit by citing the exaggerated sensitivity of their critics. And finally- this is my favorite part- anyone else is free to call out these heinous bullshit-spewing assholes on not just their bigotry but their rhetorical cowardice. God bless America.
33
Okay, if no one else is gonna say it...

"Obviously this person had consumed too much COCAINE and MALT LIQUOR."

34
Why did this have to be anonymous? Why not talk to the venue owner about it face-to-face, or in a letter. Or even an anonymous letter-- But, I,A seems like a weird choice on this one.

Vent on, brothers and sisters. Stand there while life happens, and then vent on.
35
@34 ftw...emmet watson is still right! seattle left the building long ago.
36
When you're trying to take a stand against hate crimes and get a boycott going, Anonymous is clearly the way to go.
37
I heard that it was a case of uncontrollable flatulence.
38
@33:
I started reading I, Anonymous not too long ago, and haven't caught on to what "COCAINE and MALT LIQUOR" is supposed to mean. Can someone please explain this to me?
40
The whole "I know lots of Nazis" thing reminds me of the one I, Anon where the black guy was calling out a racist in CostCo, and remarked that he could call down a force of African American ninja masters whenever he wanted.

Of course, being a rational man, he did not end up calling upon his shadow warriors.
41
I'm not really bothered by the fact that Anon knew Nazis. Hell, I'm a Jew and I've had friends with neo-Nazi ties. For years I worked as a bouncer at a crappy strip club in NM. Other bouncers there, who I came to know quite well, had been in prison and had joined Nazi gangs to survive. Yes, this was something in their past, and I'm not saying I have any idea what Anon's situation is, but just because you've known Nazi's doesn't make you one.
42
I think the bouncer was the same chick from last week that was pissed off about the cafe' cuddly couple. She's the pissed off chick that's everywhere. Where will she turn up next? Maybe in your bathroom - doing tons of COCAINE and MALT LIQUOR.
43
@38- this is something Arthur Zifferelli has posted on every IA for years now- "piles of Cocaine and cases of malt liquor", regardless of the letter. Lately he's been letting someone else take the reins, and has moved on to uncontrollable flatulence or similar. Ziffy's an institution on IA.
44
I haven't "moved on" to uncontrollable flatulence, I am suggesting that "a barrage of the most racist and homophobic slander" is pretty much indistinguishable from uncontrollable flatulence, especially when issued from a wannabe Nazi.

Although in this case, copious quantities of COCAINE and a case or two of MALT LIQUOR might just be the accurate explanation
45
I was at this show too. It was studio 7.
46
I find it amazing that so many of you are condoning this persons biggoted actions because the persons who were so highly offended by them USED to assosiate with people of the same bigot mindeset. When I first became a part of the punk scene I had friends who were white power but I was very young and naive. I quickly relized if you're not against them then you're with them and even though they always kept their deplorable ideals to themselves, I quickly distanced myself. I myself am gay and I still agree with where this persons coming from. This is typical of Seattles passive aggresive mindset. I garuntee none of you would ever stand up to something like this, and because the person admitted to being around nazis at a point in their life. You all are saying they have no right to stand against it now?! You should all be ashamed.
47
Chop suey was the venue and her name is tammy
48
Is there no longer an "I Anon" in the stranger? I had to take a back route to get here and there wasn't a new one this week :C Honestly the main reason why I stop on the stranger.com is to read savage love and I anon and if something else catches my eye then I read that too.
