@DavidinShoreline Do you ever pull a muscle patting yourself on the back so much? Or do you get plenty of strength training climbing on your high horse?

May as well tell miners that they shouldn't work underground if they don't want to die in a cave-in, not that their conditions should be improved. Or tell soldiers they shouldn't join the military if they don't want to die when they are given non-bullet-resistant humvees and inadequate equipment.

I was hopeful that this might be a little better then recent "I, Anonymous" letters, but no. Boo woo, who gives a shit about the umbrellas. If that the worse thing said during the event, I'm amazed. I completely support the purposes, but your complaint is pathetic.

@2 spot on. Nicely said.

Thank you for submitting this letter.

Nothing summarizes society's callousness around discriminatory violence than highlighting the disparaging remarks make during memorial vigils such as Dec 17th. I find myself wondering how many LBGTQ activists had to put up with bigots referring to the rainbow flag as a petty decoration, when it is in fact at powerful symbol of resilience and pride to be rallied around, to fortify people in their fight for the human right to not be murdered.

Anyone who thinks this letter is a complaint about the itemized cost of a few red umbrellas completely missed the points this writer was drawing attention to.

@1 Your victim - blaming skills are incredible. We can solve sexual assault next by having women stop wearing revealing clothing, right? Idiot.
7
@1 p.s. it's "sex workers' problems", we put the apostrophe after the s when the word is plural. Don't worry, I've solved all of your grammatical problems for you - just stop sharing your thoughts online.
9
I'd like to apologize on behalf of my gender (male) for the degrading behavior of many men towards sex workers.

David the troll: Go fuck yourself. With a brick. Upside the head. Swing hard.

I don't have a lot of respect if you can't fade a handful of hecklers, even a no-rate hack comedian should be above that

@1 - I once read about a sex worker who's client has cerebral palsy. I later thought how amazing of this woman to give this guy an experience of tenderness and the sex that he could do - with the patience and understanding that most of us would fall short of.

Yes, she sold her body. But you cannot argue that it wasn't healthful and therapeutic for her client.

Sex workers don't sell their bodies, they sell access to their bodies. I don't care about policing people's language, but it's a valid distinction.

@8 - I know you're just a bot but LOL at Marissa Mayer and "work from home." Original author needs reading comprehension.
15
@14: Yes. That's a valid distinction to make.

I liked I Anon more when it was more confessional. These days it seems like an anonymous call out of non-entertaining dickish behavior. I could totally see someone being proud to put this letter in the paper under their name. Isn't the point to say things you really can't say in public?

Please wait...
