I've been where you are many times; I work at night and I TiVo everything. But too much good stuff started coming on, so my TV is part of an audio - video system that includes a Series 1 TiVo, a Comcast dual tuner DVR a VCR, and a combo unit that includes a DVR, VCR, and a DVD recorder.
Problem is I don't have enough time to watch everything I record when I'm home. And I record Jon Stewart, Olbermann, and Maddow every night and they have to be seen first before they get stale.
This problem is eased somewhat by my having a small TV in my office; it only has an antenna and it only picks up NBC and PBS. Maybe a digital tuner would help there.

Just a little sad really...
But then again I find the presidential debates a great spectator sport.
