I'm not sure we can give props to The Stranger, when this crap gets universally panned by the readers, and it STILL gets foisted off on us on a semi-regular basis. We like Last Days because it is witty, quirky, and clever. All the celebrities and exclamation points in the world cannot rescue this shit.

I will keep sucking it until David returns. So there.

The sucking that the haters do with every Romano Last Days is like being forced to read a copy of People when all we wanted was The Stranger. Or worse, the Globe or whatever the tabloids are called these days. AR, if you've read a DS LD, it's the reporting on "relevant" news that we count on David to "bring to light" even in the darkest hours. sheesh i'm tired of hating already.

Yes, Stranger, there just isn't enough regurgitated celebrity gossip.

I can't help but feel like The Strangler, in its desire to protect Ann and its own ability to program however it likes, is failing to acknowledge what many folks are saying here. Unlike Simple's claim that folks are saying these things because its trendy, the fact is that the vast majority of readers just don't enjoy this column when written by Ann (sorry Ann, but celeb gossip is in many ways the antithesis of what Strangler readers find interesting). While it could be said in a kinder way, the fact remains that The Strangler should care about reader feedback. Last Days is one of the most popular columns in the paper, of this there is no question. Your readers aren't micromanagers, it's just this one thing that drives us crazy. Can't we work this out?!

Incidentally, for the first time since we got together eight years ago, my wife didn't want me to read Last Days to her (she's begun to ask who wrote it before we start). Once readers stop reading one of their favorite columns altogether, that's maybe a problem...

@18 Well, hold on now. The Stranger did provide us with Cienna Madrid on multiple occasions who is certainly qualified to stand in. The fact that Romano is back just suggests to me that Madrid just isn't available.

@21 Eat a dick. Spy D took a much kinder and logical approach to this than the majority of us did. Of all people to attack that made very little sense.

I like how 5 people saying in comments that they don't like Ann Romano's Last Days columns constitutes "the vast majority of readers" (@18) and "this crap gets universally panned" (@7). You guys have a hard time understanding selection bias and sample size, don't you?
