WEN-DY! WEN-DY! WEN-DY! WEN-DY!
Is there a chance that Republicans can get eaten by bears anytime soon?
2
Explodin' breasts, heroic maggots, gawdamn Texas. You bring out the best Cienna!
3
Nice Last Days, Cienna. You're an excellent stand-in for Mr. Schmader.

@1 Do you even know what Ms Davis was filibustering for? Did you and the sheeple think it was the end of all abortion if she didn't fight for it to continue after the 20th week of pregnancy? My perception is that public opinion as a whole reels from issue to issue blindly without even knowing the details. I wonder if the flame is big enough for ALL of these moths to fly into it. Today you can go from unknown to the great promise just by picking up a flag or cause at the time the camera is on you. I remember when there was not much difference between those labeled Dems and Repubs but ideas that were able to met with compromise, now you hear the cry for one or the other to be annihilated? I do appreciate Last Days even if I do not share every enthusiasm. Nice job Cienna, covering for the ever impressive David. I would stand beside each of you not in spite of our differences, but because I respect your rights to hold different opinions. And without those differences, we are pretty much the same. Would like to see that promoted more in the Stranger forum. Celebrate the middle, that is where most of us are.

@4: I know perfectly well what Senator Wendy Davis filibustered for---for a bunch of backwards Texas cavemen who know nothing at all about the inside of a woman's body, yet stupidly feel it's their "God-given right" to play "decision maker" and interfere with a patient's right to her own medical and reproductive choices---to stop already with their harmfully repressive right wing fascist ideological "beliefs", drop the whole ridiculous abortion debate, and let the women and their doctors make their own choices.
If you were raped and forcibly impregnated against your will--again something these Republican right-wing male politicians will never experience themselves---and had to bring a fetus to full term inside you and then give birth even if it meant you died in a delivery room in labor--because a cruelly dictatorial group of people said you will, how would YOU feel?
I AM somewhere in the middle. But I raise almighty hell when others try to strip me of my rights and wrongfully force their "beliefs" and way of life on me, madcaver.

Way to not even mention the Supreme Courts 6/25! The court's ruling regarding the Voting Rights Act of 1965 effectively dismantles voting protections against regional discrimination and allows states like North Carolina, Michigan, Texas (and many others) to create discriminatory voting guidelines in order to deliberately disenfranchise targeted groups (for example, in NC: blacks and college students). Now I love Wendy Davis and that was great news worth reporting but leaving out the VRA ruling is a serious oversight. Hopefully, The Stranger has a feature in the works about the topic.

@6: I know. I'm upset by the gutting of the Voters' Rights Act of 1965, too.

If so many bible thumpin' NRA fans in the Lone Star State love their guns so much, then I think it's time to declare open season on GOP-run-amok Texas legislators, starting with Governor "Ooops!" Perry.

To further elaborate on @8: That wouldn't be hard. They can simply blow away each other. The rest of us can just sit back and watch in stunned amazement, preferably from a safe distance.

Don't you just love the "logic" behind how a Texas doctor braving getting violently attacked and killed for merely doing a breast cancer screening
or saving the life of a rape victim is publicly condemned as an "evil murderer", while a 3-year-old toddler makes everyone proud of him by totin' My First Rifle--especially after blowing his big sister away first?

Please wait...
