I just found this whole blog, and this post brought tears to my eyes. I just wanted to say thanks for the past 2 hours of my life, you honestly made me laugh and cry at a time I needed to.
The extra post about the death of your mom really did make me cry (if not on the outside, definitely on the inside--I'm pretty good at maintaining composure). It made me reflect on my life as a gay male, a 22-year-old, a soon-to-be college graduate, and a lover of hyphens. Your mother sounds like an amazing person, and you were lucky to have her in your life. You may have thought that you didn't write a column that week, but the column you did write made an impact on me more than learning about people's amputee or come-eating fetishes ever could. Thanks for that.
