"We were looking for Dungeness crab, of which there were none"
Dear staff writer, you were obviously trying very hard to sound clever. Sadly, you failed. I am surprised this sentence got past your editor. Let's ignore that it should have been "there was none", and focus on the stilted sentence construction. You could have said "We were unsuccessfully looking for crab". Please, be less clever in the future.
