Everyone should definitely speak up about things they don't like the party doing, but I am fuck-sake tired of people bitching about non-democratic unfairness in the way things are presently run-it's a fucking political party, they aren't obligated to act via direct democracy on everything the fucking do for christ's sake.

I don't support either candidate but I can tell you Bernie supporters are the kind of people who draw every fucking thing out at any kind of meeting, but don't end up actually producing anything useful at the end of the day.

So just have someone challenge Hillary too. Both applications were forwarded a day late. I don't see how the party treated Bernie differently.

Also, the Board ... and the Council ... and the DC Democratic Party ... and Hillary's Campaign Chair ... and a few others say they're going to fix it IF it needs fixing (which it might not), and even if it doesn't (just to be of the safe side).

Incidentally, two names qualified for the our state's May 24 Democratic Primary Election ballot -- Bernie and Hillary -- under a similar 1,000 signature provision, but with no buy-in alternative.

I like how "One guy with connections to the democrat party challenged Sanders application but don't worry because he's still sure to make it on" became "Democratic party close to keeping Bernie off the Ballot."

@5 --Slog needs an "ELECTION CLICKBAIT" topic tag

The real problem is our two-party system.

Another day, another perceived slight against Sanders. It's hard to believe that a party stalwart (member since fall of 2015!) like Sanders is subject to the same kind of inside politics we saw in PA when a Rubio supporter tried to keep Kasich off the ballot.

I used to work in DC politics and I know all these party people--Brannum the gadfly, Anita Bonds (the city councilmember and local Democratic Party chair who delivered the papers the day after they were due), the bureaucrats at the board of elections. I promise you that Bonds is simply incompetent--strictly incompetent, in everything she does. The only surprise to me is that her incompetence hasn't made the national news before. If Bonds had been trying to help Clinton, she would have failed more completely than this.

Notwithstanding this embarrassment, DC should be a state. And it's actually undemocratic that over 600,000 people live in DC without being represented in Congress like the rest of us are.

Asked: "Why would the party deliberately create a system where any candidate that political insiders don't like is vulnerable to a challenge?"

Answered: Donald Fucking Trump.

Hey you loser Bernie supporters! It's not like they hired some guy to shank him! I mean, if they did that would be alright 'cause it's a political party and anything can be justified as long as I agree with it, so stop whining!

Sheesh, this is a total non-story. Have to make your pageview quota by the close of the month?

Please wait...
