Full disclosure: Nobody has actually seen partisan as of this writing, but I have faith in Alice (“ali-che”) Gosti, the Italian choreographer and organizer of the Yellow Fish Epic Durational Performance Festival. This five-hour, come-and-go work was inspired by antifascist subversives, saboteurs, and resistance fighters in WWII Italy, and begins as a 3:30 procession from Velocity Dance Center to St. Mark’s Cathedral. At an open rehearsal a few months ago, the choreography resembled a combination of reckless stampeding and highly acrobatic trust falls—dangerous and supportive at the same time.
