I wonder if a “blood drug” is anything like a “blood diamond”—a strangely waaaaay-too-valuable shiny object that’s sold to inordinately wealthy people in order to fund necessary war, civil disobedience, and violence? I think the band Blood Drugs, who tonight celebrate the release of their debut full-length album on Good to Die Records, have NOTHING to do with actual bloodletting or drug dealing and EVERYTHING to do with making knife-sharp guitar punk that’ll appease fans of bands like the Rites of Spring, Hot Snakes, and Murder City Devils. Buy the album—it comes on clear vinyl decorated with an aggressive explosion of red (no diamonds or gemstones needed). KELLY O
