Supergroup is a funny word, but that’s fine because Unlikely Friends, featuring members of Seattle indie-art rock bands Boat and Math and Physics Club, is a funny band. The good kind of funny (and the good kind of band). Their songs are smart, catchy, warm, and good. It wasn’t so very long ago that UF’s sound felt like the dominant mode of Seattle rock bands, and though that brief moment may never return, it’s a comfort to know its tendrils are still wriggling. You can see other bands any time. That elephant ear will still be there in an hour. Go see Unlikely Friends. You deserve it and so do they. SEAN NELSON
