ArtXchange Pioneer Square
Oct. 1-Nov. 28 2015
So, how does it feel when the Seattle mayor asks you to make a work of art for the authoritarian president of a fifth of the world's population? Only Louie Gong knows. Last month, Mayor Ed Murray's office asked him to drop everything, and make Xi Jinping a gift. He created, in collaboration with his uncle Peter Gong, a bentwood box bearing Fu dog designs on each face, referencing Louie Gong's dual Chinese-Nooksack heritage. Now, Gong is having his first gallery show, with fellow culture-mixing imagemaker Jonathan Wakuda Fischer.
