Both cinema and literature geeks alike will delight at this free event at the Central Library. Audiences will take in both a short story and a movie that it inspired, in addition to discussion about the nature of adaptation. Upcoming sessions include Frank Perry's The Swimmer (based on John Cheever's novel of the same name) and Todd Field's In the Bedroom, based on Andre Dubus' "Killings."

1/23: Freaks, Tod Browning, director (1932); based on “Spurs,” by Tod Robbins (1923).
2/06: High Noon, with Gary Cooper (1952); based on “The Tin Star,” by John W. Cunningham (1947).
2/20: The Wild One, with Marlon Brando (1953); based on “The Cyclist’s Raid,” by Frank Rooney (1951).
3/05: Michelangelo Antonioni's Blow Up, based on "Blow Up" by Julio Cortázar.
3/19: Frank Perry's The Swimmer, based on "The Swimmer" by John Cheever.
4/02: Todd Field's In the Bedroom, based on "Killings" by Andre Dubus.
