One of the hands-down, no-bullshit contemporary masters of lyric poetry. Most of his stuff is very short—less than a page, often only a few stanzas long—and a lot of his love poems are about hot gay sex. If you're into that kinda thing, read “Distraction." According to press materials, "his most recent book, Reconnaissance, was nominated for an NAACP Image Award." Pick that one up, too.
