Since at least the time of the Oracle at Delphi, members of society have sought political guidance, emotional succor, pithy personal advice, and general prognostication from oracles, vessels through which the gods speak their will. Tonight at the Sorrento Hotel, Seattle Civic Poet Claudia Castro Luna, Stranger Genius nominee Robert Lashley, and Seattle-based writer Tara Conklin will step into that role and serve as your soothsayer and/or doomsayer. Big diff between them and most oracles: Their words won't be coming from on high. They'll be coming from the books of poetry and fiction that they've all been desperately writing for several years now.

Here's the oracular procedure. Go to the Sorrento Hotel at 7:00 pm. Get yourself a drink. Have yourself a think about the future. Here's some fodder for your think session: Will Donald Trump become the president of the United States? Is your rent about to go up? When will you next experience a genuine human emotion? When Hillary wins the presidency, are there plans in the works to knock Trump unconscious and drop him in a Truman Show-like alternaverse where he thinks he actually won the election so that we can watch how close we really were to total doom and destruction at the hands of a capricious and mean tyrant?

Whatever the case, you'll write that question down and hand it to spiritual liaison and host (and local poet and professor) Johnny Horton. The writers will draw questions and then respond to them by reading a relevant line from their respective books.
