Ben Lerner started off writing nerdy books of poetry that were so good, you could actually feel your brain and heart growing as your read them (see: The Lichtenberg Figures and Angle of Yaw). Then he turned his attention to reinventing the American novel. Both Leaving Atocha Station and 10:04 were phenomenal, genre-altering books that blurred the lines of nonfiction, fiction, and poetry as they explored contemporary politics, art, the life of artists, and the shallows and depths of love. Humor and intelligence abound in these books. Expect as much at this lecture, where Lerner will "examine the novel as a curatorial form."
