Campout Cinema: The Dark Crystal

Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP) (map) Seattle Center
Fri., Oct. 13, 7 p.m. 2017 All Ages

This dark fantasy from 1982, codirected by Frank Oz and Jim Hensen, is certainly one of the children's films most likely to induce nightmares in viewers of any age—but it's also intricate, delicate, and totally unique. Two elflike Gelflings, the last of their species, try to heal a magical crystal and break the domination of the malevolent Skeksis, which look sort of like rotting vultures. Tickets Include admission to The Jim Henson Exhibition: Imagination Unlimited and a pre-screening talk with Cheryl Henson.
