Alexis L. Silva is Mount Analogue’s first curator-in-residence for its new Space Residency initiative, which was created to bring new ideas to the showroom while also attempting to address the shrinking accessibility of physical art spaces in our city. With this in mind, Silva—who is a Cornish grad with a background in performance and photography—selected to show Stefan Gonzales for the month of January. Gonzales, a UW grad student, draws inspiration from land artists from the late 1960s and early ’70s. His work at Mount Analogue uses material like wood, rock, fluorescent lighting, and mirrors with Budweiser labels to interrogate “the colonial relationship with the land that many Westerners share.”
