Theo Parrish is an outlier’s outlier in the realm of tech-house DJs and producers. The Detroit-based maverick’s productions bear an un-grid-like organic quality that keeps them loose-limbed, mesmerizing, and groovy as fuck, and as danceable as they are adventurous. A track on his outstanding 1998 album First Floor, “Paradise Architects,” serves as a job description for what Parrish does in the studio.
