Angela Garbes, the former Stranger writer behind a piece that’s still gaining readers nearly four years after it was published, “The More I Learn About Breast Milk, the More Amazed I Am,” and the author of last year’s Like a Mother (which looks at the history of women's health and the cultural prejudices, politics, and preconceived ideas about pregnancy and motherhood), leads this panel on the access and status of care for women in our region and beyond. Joining her is Jackie Vaughn, program director at Surge; Rokea Jones, a community outreach doula for Open Arms; Upstream’s Washington State executive director, Chelsea Waliser; and the engagement manager for Camber Collective, Benjamin Jenson. Should make for a lively—and well-informed—discussion.
